Third period
Islanders started off with the opening goal in the third as Richard Park scored at 2:12 to make it 3-2 isles. As the period progressed the caps started to pick up thier game. Later a heart stoping moment for the Islanders as Kyle Okposo went down after locking skates with a capitals player and needed to helped to the bench. Okposo was later seen on the bench and looked to be ok. Later a heated meet broke out between players behind the Washington net and Rechlicz was sent to the penelty box. Mike Green made them pay as he got the power play goal to tie the game at 3. Later the Islanders almost took the lead back when bailey got one past a down Theodor but was waived off due to goaltender Interference, and the momentum quickly shifted as on the ensuing power play Mike green came up big as he scored the game winning goal giving the caps the 4-3 lead. Backstrome sealed the deal with an empty net goal giving the caps the insurance goal.
Second Period
A second period of action and goals started quick, just 37 seconds into it Frans nielson redirected a shot with his skate past Theodor to give the Islanders a 2 goal lead. A minute and change later Rechlicz and Erskin went blow for blow as they gave the crowd a good show for their money. A minute or two later Mike Green left his feet and elbowed Andy Hillbert in the head starting a scrum along the wall that involved a Blow for Blow fight between Jackmen and Schultz. Unable to convert on the power play Ovechkin and the caps made them pay as Ovechkin scored his 54th of the season off a beutifull pace from Fedorov. Later Acoin scores his first goal as a capital to tie the game at 2 a peace.
First Period
Joey MacDonald who made every stop look easy kep the caps at zero. Coming off the shut out in detroit MacDonald has put a just as impressive effort in the first stoping all 10 shots he faced, Although the same cant be said for Theodor. Following a holding penelty by Fedorov at 13:52 the Islanders made them pay only 12 seconds later Kyle Okposo slaped one passed to give the Islanders a 1-0 lead.
